I felt it yesterday
in the cut of the ocean breeze
on my face
a shade cooler than expected.
I saw it in a slant of amber light
as I crossed a threshold from house to garden,
and yet again in a swirl of dying leaves
blown by an offshore wind.
'Hello," I said. "You have come so soon."
July has only just left and here
Autumn has arrived.
